What qualifications or skills are required for an oilfield job?
- Must be over 18 years old
- Must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident or have an open work visa
- Applicants will be required to pass a physical capacity test and an alcohol and drug test
- Have an acceptable background check result
- Class “C” driver’s license (for trucking positions)
- Be comfortable working on a rotating shift schedule that operates 24 hours a day
- Be prepared to work as a member of a high-functioning team
- Understand that some operations are remotely located which involves driving long distances and living in man-camps
How can I stand out as a candidate?
Ensign will be particularly interested in those applicants who have:
- Drilling or similar oilfield experience
- A background in heavy manual labor jobs
- A trades background
- Experience working in a team environment
- A high level of motivation
- A high work ethic
*Offers of employment may be made upon confirmation that the applicant has the physical capacity to perform the job. This is done by completing a medical and functional capacity test conducted by a medical facility nominated by Ensign and the cost is borne by Ensign.
Oilfield jobs can be very physically demanding and challenging, especially for those who are new to the industry. Expect to be outside in all-weather elements, working long hours, while being away from home.
