HSE Management System
Ensign’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System is helping us realize the HSE aspects of our vision, mission and values .
HSE management is an integral and essential part of the way we conduct our business, and is considered an equal part of the wider system for the management of our business.
Our HSE Management System is based on the International Oil & Gas Producers model, which has many similarities to ISO standards.
The system’s two-fold purpose is to:
Establish an international standard for the way we manage, practice, and monitor our HSE programs; and
Bring our safety programs under one, Company-wide umbrella

Our Goals
Through effective and transparent HSE management, we aim to protect our employees, be the preferred contractor for customers and the favoured employer in the oilfield services sector, and lower our worker compensation costs.
Our Framework
Our HSE Management System helps us achieve these goals by providing the framework and processes to examine the risks to our employees, the public, our property, and the environment in which we operate and determine what actions we need to take to control these risks.
Our HSE Management System is comprised of seven interrelated elements with underlying expectations:
Commitment and Leadership
Policies and Objectives
Organization, Resources and Documentation
Risk Evaluation and Management
Planning
Implementation, Recording and Monitoring
Audit and Review
Each division must communicate these expectations to all employees, customers and third parties associated with our business.
Our Promise
Our promise to our employees, shareholders and the wider public is that we will strive for continuous improvement in every area of our HSE efforts. This means continuous improvement of our standards, systems, programs, safety performance, management leadership, and employees’ awareness, knowledge, commitment, and involvement.
Ensign’s HSE staff monitors the Company’s HSE compliance and performance on an ongoing basis. The status of any HSE issue is an agenda item on every divisional monthly review and is a standing item for all meetings of the Company’s Board of Directors. Each Ensign division conducts a formal HSE audit every three years using an external third-party auditor.
