Engineering Internship/Training Program

Ensign has created internship positions to develop future Ensign leaders! This is an opportunity to work in field operations in various areas of the organization while moving through progressively responsible positions. The objective is to learn the business from the ground up so that a motivated individual with a technical education can gain the specific business knowledge necessary to be effective in an operations, engineering, HSE or business leadership position.

 

Specific Functions:

The primary requirement for the candidate is to fill field labor positions for a period of two (2) to three (3) years on a variety of Rig types (Single, Double, Mechanical Triple, ADR (200 and 1500), Service Rig);

- Floorhand

- Motorhand

- Derrick/Assistant Driller

- Driller/Assistant Manager

- Rig Manager

- Participate in rig and equipment construction projects, various positions.

- Assist Health Safety and Environment professionals and participate in HSE projects.

- Assist maintenance professionals and participate in maintenance activities and projects.

- Perform engineering studies and participate with engineering projects.

- Work under the direction of sub-contractors and tradesman during equipment upgrades and construction.

- Research and prepare reports on operations related problems as identified by project managers, superintendents and rig managers.

- Attend company sponsored training and achieve required certifications.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

Drilling or Service Rig experience with Ensign and enrolment in an accredited engineering, technical, or business program (see below), or:

- Enrollment in, or completion of an accredited engineering program, technologist diploma, business, or science program and:

- Heavy industry, manufacturing or maintenance experience.

- Physically fit, pass fit for duty testing and drug testing and willing to perform manual labour.

- Available for shift work during the development phase.
